Soldermask: It is a layer of protective material that is applied on both sides of a PCB to protect copper traces from oxidation and prevent short circuiting during assembly, testing or use. The soldermask also helps to enhance the reliability of a PCB assembly by preventing solder from flowing onto unintended parts.
